Repairs And Reproofing
Zips, seams, poles and waterproofing are repaired and restored rather than replaced, keeping gear in use for years longer.

To match outdoor equipment to where and how people actually travel, through proper fitting and honest questions rather than specification comparisons.
Who We Are
INUTEQ is an outdoor specialist carrying tents and shelters, backpacks, sleeping bags and mats, footwear, technical clothing, stoves and cookware, navigation, climbing hardware and winter equipment. The store exists to do what online retail cannot: fit a pack to a torso, fit a boot to a foot under load, let someone lie in a sleeping bag or crawl into a tent before buying it, and ask where a customer actually goes rather than what specification they read about.
Most unsatisfactory outdoor gear purchases come from a mismatch between the equipment and the use. A four-season mountaineering tent is a poor choice for summer car camping, an ultralight pack punishes anyone carrying a heavy load, and the warmest sleeping bag in the shop is wrong for a warm-weather trip. INUTEQ staff hike, camp, climb and ski, and we would rather sell less gear that gets used than more that sits in a garage. We also rent tents, packs and sleeping bags, repair and reproof clothing, replace zips and run skills evenings for customers around .

Repairs and reproofing instead of replacement
Track Record
Our Mission
To keep gear in use longer through rental, repair, reproofing and advice, because the most sustainable equipment is the equipment that does not get replaced.
Sectors
Expedition travelers get kit lists reviewed against the real destination conditions.
Client Feedback
Three packs and years of shoulder pain, and the answer was that my torso length had never been measured. Twenty minutes of proper fitting solved it.
We came in to buy an expensive four-season tent. They asked where we camp and sold us something cheaper and roomier that suits us far better.
They reproofed a jacket I was about to replace and it performs like new. That advice cost them a jacket sale.
Visit INUTEQ and tell us where you are going before we show you anything. Fitting takes as long as it needs.

A pack carries its load on your hips, not your shoulders, so torso length and hip belt fit matter far more than the brand or the liter rating.
Our Advantages
Zips, seams, poles and waterproofing are repaired and restored rather than replaced, keeping gear in use for years longer.
Test gear on a real trip and apply the rental against a purchase, which is cheaper than owning the wrong tent.
Tents are pitched, packs loaded, bags laid out. Equipment judged from a photograph routinely disappoints on the first trip.
We ask where you go and in what weather, since the best tent or bag in the shop is wrong for most people using it.
Advice comes from people who hike, climb, camp and ski, and who will tell you when something costs more than it is worth to you.
Pack and boot fitting are measured, loaded and adjusted properly, because this is the part of the purchase that decides comfort on a long day.
Tents, packs, stoves and sleeping systems are available to hire, so an expensive decision is made after a weekend outdoors rather than inside a shop.
Sleeping bags can be climbed into, stoves lit, tents pitched and packs walked around the floor, because specifications on a swing tag tell you very little.
Packs are loaded to trip weight and adjusted to your torso length; boots are fitted from measured length, width and volume with the socks you will wear.
Our Services

Zip replacement, fabric and seam repair, waterproof garment cleaning and reproofing, pack and tent pole repair, plus skills evenings on navigation, winter travel and gear maintenance for the local outdoor community.

Canister, liquid fuel and alcohol stoves with advice on cold-weather and altitude performance, fuel availability when traveling, plus water filtration and treatment matched to the environments the customer actually visits.
Request a Quote
Sleeping bags and quilts with honest discussion of temperature ratings, plus mat selection by insulation value, because most cold nights outdoors are caused by inadequate ground insulation rather than by the bag being too thin.
Request a Quote
Measurement of length, width and volume, fitting with the socks you will actually wear, assessment under a loaded pack and on a ramp to check heel hold and toe clearance on descent, plus insole and lacing adjustments for specific foot shapes.
Request a Quote
Measured torso length and hip fitting with weighted packs, adjusting harness, hip belt, load lifters and stabilizers until the load sits on the hips. Fitting takes time and makes more difference to comfort on a long day than any feature on the specification sheet.
Request a Quote
Rental of tents, packs, sleeping bags, mats and stoves so customers can test equipment on a real trip before buying, with rental cost creditable against purchase and gear cleaned and checked between hires.
Request a Quote
Base layers, insulation and waterproof shells with explanation of how a layering system works, how breathability and waterproofing trade off, and why the most expensive shell is not the right answer for someone who walks mostly in dry weather.

Tents, tarps and bivy shelters with display models pitched so customers can get inside, judge length and headroom, and understand the trade-offs between weight, weather capability, ventilation and ease of pitching in bad conditions.

Our Process
We ask about trip length, terrain, season, likely weather, group size, how much you carry and what has not worked before, which shapes everything that follows.
Packs are measured and loaded, boots fitted and tested on a ramp, tents pitched and entered, and bags and mats laid out so the choice is made on feel rather than numbers.
Where gear is expensive or the use uncertain, we suggest renting first and credit the rental against a later purchase rather than pushing the sale now.
We reproof shells, replace zips, repair fabric and poles and run maintenance evenings, so equipment stays serviceable for many seasons.

Questions & Answers
Usually the sleeping mat. Ground conducts heat away far faster than air, and an inadequately insulated mat will leave you cold in an otherwise excellent bag. Insulation value is the number to check, and it is the one most people ignore entirely.
Yes, we pitch display models so you can get inside, lie down, check headroom and see how the doors and vestibules work. Tent specifications are nearly useless for judging whether two people and their gear will actually be comfortable in it.
Yes, tents, packs, sleeping bags, mats and stoves. Renting lets you test equipment on a real trip rather than guessing in a shop, and rental cost is creditable against a purchase. For anyone unsure whether they will use something, it is the cheapest way to find out.
By torso length rather than height, and by how the hip belt sits. Liter capacity matters less than fit, because a well-fitted pack carries its load on the hips while a badly fitted one puts it all on the shoulders. Come in, be measured and walk around with a loaded pack.
Fit matters more than price. A properly fitted mid-range boot outperforms an expensive one that is the wrong shape for your foot. We measure length, width and volume, fit with your own socks and test on a ramp under load, because descent is where poorly fitted boots cause damage.
Yes. We replace zips, repair fabric, seams and tent poles, and clean and reproof waterproof clothing, which restores performance people assume is permanently lost. Repairing good equipment is almost always better value than replacing it, and we would rather keep it in use.
